Asian Home Care

home care

As we enter the 4th decade of “good living” in this new land, many new difficulties have arisen in our Asian community. Our parents and grandparents are getting very old. Many are facing chronic pain and medical problems. They need constant attention, help and tender care. Unfortunately, most of their children or grand-children have their own responsibilities and demands on their time – going to school, working, and raising their own children – and they can’t provide the needed care. In addition, due to language barriers, cultural and food differences, our elders wish to stay home rather than go to a nursing home.

Based on one of the TSC purposes, “to promote the common welfare and well-being of the Tai people,” we decided to explore and take part in alleviating our elder’s problems.  We have received in March 2012 from Iowa Medicaid Enterprise a license to operate under the Medicaid Elderly Waiver program as an agency provider, under the name “Asian Home Care” (AHC). Through this agency, with the tender care and needed assistance of family members and friends, our elderly, disabled, and handicapped people can stay healthy and independent at home.
